Dragonriders served over 6,000 members and ran $35,000 in events with the goal of building community and bringing people together online.
For community members, I would like to share our story and my gratitude with you as I log off for the last time. See below.
The very first branch of Dragonriders was launched in early 2019 as a singular Brawl Stars club. It was named in honor of How To Train Your Dragon: a group of unlikely kids that came together over a shared love for dragons. We believed that the Dragonriders organization could bring people together through another unlikely medium: video games.
After seeing rapid growth following its launch, the founders identified that there was an unfilled need for community and human connection. This demand proliferated further as the world entered a global pandemic. On April 10th, 2020, three visionaries with the profound yet simple mission of unifying people through gaming, we launched the Dragonriders community initiative.
While Dragonriders is a community focused on games, it is not a gaming community. It is a people community. And with this in mind, Dragonriders flourished with members joining from all around the world. Through extensive work from our extraordinary administration, Dragonriders shaped itself to be one of the most well-established amateur organizations in the mobile community, standing at the top of its league in numerous divisions and becoming renowned as a community that facilitated an environment of positivity.
Over three years, Dragonriders served 2,900 server members across 5 servers, 1,300 in-game club members, and 2,400 individuals across 4 media platforms. We proudly served communities within 5 games, hosted 143 events, and established 4 semicompetitive esports teams and 2 top-ranking esports teams.
The online community accumulated 2,477,365 messages from members all around the world. Effective today, Dragonriders officially ends its services as a gaming organization.
For those heavily involved within our prominent community initiative, you will be familiar with the following statement:
“Dragonriders believes that games create a community in which people from all different backgrounds can learn and grow together, and strives to maintain a friendly atmosphere where everyone can collaborate and inspire.”
These are words etched in stone that have stood as guiding pillars in our journey as an organization. These words, albeit elementary, are the defining prose of Dragonriders. It is my firmest belief that only with this mindset instilled in our hearts from the beginning was Dragonriders able to climb to such a successful height and support thousands across the globe.
From the day the first club was born, this was the task that we had given ourselves. To build a community in which all are encouraged to learn and grow, and grow together. And the subsequent, underlying meaning not printed into history is that our efforts within the organization would lead to growth of individuals involved. Meaning – the members of Dragonriders would grow as they connected.
For many, Dragonriders represented a virtual home during the uncertainty of the pandemic. Hundreds of eager individuals connected through our platform, each with their own ideas, passions, skills, and worldview. There is always so much to learn from other people, if only the chance to is created. Dragonriders created this chance for its community. Admittedly, this chance is not unique, and it is not the most uncommon. But it is still impactful in an astounding manner.
And with the help of each other, collectively, we were able to grow. Navigating through any struggles that we had, together. Experiencing life, together. Although some thousands of miles apart, that is no barrier to our connections. And our connections and friendships have distilled qualities and principles in our hearts that will last a lifetime.
The Dragonriders mission has been fulfilled. And thus, this is the end. Effective today, Dragonriders officially ends its services as a gaming organization and a cherished community. Thank you for three great years.
As the founder of the original club, I am honored to have been at the forefront of such an amazing journey. Starting out as just another kid with a dream, Dragonriders has been everything in that dream and more. Our organization is truly the evidence that anything can be accomplished if you put in the time and the effort. I am forever grateful that I was able to share these past few years with you all, passing time and adding incomprehensible depth to the casual hobby of mobile gaming.
These memories will undoubtedly fade, in fact, for many, they already have. But the Dragonriders legacy will live on in your minds and in your hearts. To all of our core members, the positive change you have experienced these past few years with us is an unexplainably extraordinary success. A younger me started Dragonriders three years ago so he could maybe improve the lives of one or two people, and I am proud to tell him that I have undoubtedly done that and much more. We used to tell each other that “Dragonriders never die,” and now, I fully understand the beauty of that statement.
Because while Dragonriders is a community, and we have gone our separate ways, we hold the remnants of that community in our hearts, through our words and actions which have been shaped by the positive upbringing from Dragonriders. It is not the organization Dragonriders, which never dies, rather, it is the Dragonriders making up the community that carry the torch of dragon fire into the next chapter to continue making a positive impact in the world.
This is Cloudjumper, for the last time. I will see you in the friendly skies.
